Support Groups
At some point in our lives, most of us realize that our hurts, habits, and hangups are getting in our way. They can suffocate, restrict, and rob us of having an abundant and joyful life.
We may have ignored our struggles with codependence, compulsiveness, marital struggles, control issues, the ghosts from our past, wrong behaviors we learned while growing up, etc. But now we crave healing and long for spiritual growth. These things can be provided through a supportive, compassionate, confidential community.
Reecovery group participants meet in weekly confidential, supportive groups which lay the foundation for recovery and freedom. We might come from diverse backgrounds, yet have amazingly similar, life experiences. As fears subside, participants feel that the group is a safe place to grow.
Participants do not have to belong to Sonrise Church. The entire community is welcome. We are committed to present Jesus Christ, who is the compassionate solution to our powerlessness over our “issues”.
Group Guidelines
1. Confidentiality and trust is the key to our groups. What is shared in the group stays in the group.
2. We are here to support one another. We will not attempt to "fix" another.
3. During group sharing, there is no cross talk. This means we don't interrupt others when they are sharing.
4. Conflict resolution - we will avoid gossip and immediately resolve any concerns by following the principles of Matthew 18:15-17.
5. Try to be sensitive to the other members of the group. Listen attentively when they speak. This will encourage more hesitant members of the group to participate. |
